Skin care Monday: my Kiehl's experience

Good afternoon beauties and welcome back to another skin care Monday!
I was wandering around my local department store the other day and stopped by the Kiehl's counter, attracted by all the hype around the brand and their skin care line. A very nice guy in a lab coat introduced himself as Daan and offered to help me get to know the brand. Kiehl's started out in 1851 as a pharmacy in New York and since then has made it their brand to combine cosmetic and pharmaceutical knowledge to deliver high quality and natural skin care products. The principle they go by is to protect and strengthen the skin barrier for a younger and bright looking skin. If the skin barrier is damaged, all the nasty bacteria and substances in the air can penetrate your skin, while the natural oils are unable to do their job and keep the moisture in the skin.

Each of their clients is offered a personalized skin consultation to assess what the main concerns are and what products to use in order to address them properly. At the end of the analysis you receive samples of these products to test at home. How cool is that!!

The skin gets tested with two pressure pads on the forehead and cheek to verify the oiliness of the skin and go from there. It wasn't a surprise to me when Daan told me I had combination-oily skin. To keep the oil at bay he suggested the Rare Earth Deep pore Daily Cleanser with Amazonian White Clay Exfoliates and Detoxifies, and the Ultra Facial Oil Free Toner and Lotion. These have a lighter formula compared to the classic Ultra Facial line, making them more suitable for oily skin.

Their power horses are the serums: the Powerful-Strength Line-Reducing Concentrate, applied during the day decreases the appearance of lines and wrinkles improving skin texture and radiance, while during the night the famous Midnight Recovery Concentrate restores the skin barrier.

Finally I got samples of the Ultra Light Daily UV Defense SPF50 PA+++ UVA, a lightweight sun screen, and the new Micro-Blur Skin Perfector with LHA, bark and lentil extracts, a lightweight skin smoother to instantly refine skin texture and minimize the appearance of pores while improving skin's quality over time.

After all, I was just looking for a new eye cream, since I've been seeing some lines in the area in my blog pics (whyyyyy??? sigh). To work on the lines and prevent wrinkles I got the Line-reducing eye-brightening concentrate (here), which I use as eye serum thanks to the light formula. On top of that i use the famous Creamy eye treatment with avocado (here), a moisturizer with creamy texture that turns to a watery feel when rubbed into the skin. It is brilliant and feels really great!

Overall I am extremely pleased with the experience and would suggest to all of you to drop by a counter, get a quick analysis and samples and see if you fall in love with any of their products!
Do you use any of Kiehl's products? What do you love?
